For the third consecutive year, Baxter Construction proudly participated in the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Engineering Career Fair. As SDSU’s Construction Management (CM) program continues to grow, we’ve seen firsthand the quality graduates it produces. In fact, our most recent hire, Sam Maloley, is a standout SDSU alumnus who joined us after completing this program.
This year’s two-day event provided excellent opportunities for Baxter to connect with promising future construction professionals. Scott Griffin and Joe Bakke represented our company at the main career fair, engaging with students across all stages of their academic journeys, from freshmen to seniors. These conversations were invaluable in helping us understand the caliber of SDSU’s CM students and their aspirations within the industry.
In addition to participating in the fair itself, Baxter was honored to be one of only four contractors to present to the CM Club. Approximately 50 students attended the presentation, which allowed us to introduce Baxter’s mission, values, and projects. The presentation highlighted our commitment to fostering growth and innovation within the construction industry, and we shared insights into what sets Baxter apart as a leading construction firm.
The second day of the event, designated as an interview day, allowed us to dive deeper with selected students who expressed interest in joining Baxter for either internships or full-time positions post-graduation. These one-on-one discussions provided an opportunity to connect on a more personal level and identify potential future team members who align with our company’s vision and goals.
By the conclusion of the event, we walked away with numerous resumes from highly impressive candidates. As we continue to grow, we are excited about the possibilities of welcoming more SDSU graduates into the Baxter family. Overall, this year’s SDSU Engineering Career Fair was a great success, and we look forward to future engagements with the university and its talented students.
